It is hoped this will thwart speculative applications applications on the fields around Failand where developers are hoping to exploit the window of opportunity before North Somerset Council adopt the new plan.

The Cabinet voted unanimously on 15 October 2025 to publish the Plan for local consultation and it is expected to be submitted to the Secretary of State in early 2026 for examination in summer 2026 with adoption later that year.
